New inspiration

This seems like it might be the coolest company in the world to work for. I've decided after checking out Florescent Hill's animations that I've got to get back into making my own 2-d movies. Awesome shorts and music videos!

Waiting for spring

I've been hearing a lot about the color green for the upcoming year in fashion/ design. Spring palettes are going to be showing up across the board . Yellow and green seem to be the hot combo, but things get interesting when matching it with blue and brown as well. I love this illustration by Daniel Baxter. His inspiraton was the quote
An optimist is the human personification of spring.
- Susan Bissonette.

The first post !

Okay- my first blog post. It's a little intimidating since I'm not sure if I'm capable of being a good blogger, but I'm not gonna let my ego stop me from keeping up with technology. Today I'm trying to get my website up and running and this is part of that process. I'm three cups of coffee deep (Starbucks French Roast), so I figured it's time to set this thing up.

Maybe the first topic I should discuss is how overwhelming the internet is, since it's been on my mind lately. As a fledling web designer, the competiton is stifling - so when it comes to creating a site selling your work, my best advice is to not look around the web too much, because there are just so many people that are better at design than you. Whenever that feeling of inadequacy hits, I try to think back to something a small guitar shop owner I met said to me: I was in the shop with my boyfriend who was trying out guitars and the owner asked if I played. I said "not very well, not as good as I'd like to." He said that anyone who's ever tried to play the guitar, even the best musicians, have said that. He was right. Nobody wakes up great at anything, it all takes practice. It seems that anything that's worthwhile is all about the pursuit...
